The advantages of ProtectIII self-ligating bracket

1. Lower friction: Protect III self-ligating bracket adopts passive self-ligating sliding design, which effectively reduces the friction between brackets and archwires. It constitutes a continuously low friction orthodontic force system. Edges of slot are round and smooth, which avoid elastic binding and physical notching resistance (Figure 1). Therefore, teeth could move faster due to limited friction.

2. Innovative implicit hook design: Protect III self-ligating bracket boldly abandons the traditional long hook design and adopts innovatively implicit hook approach instead (Figure 2). The new implicit hook completely complies with the need of intermaxillar and intramaxillary tractions (Figure 3), and is more convenient in the fine-tuning stage. Compared with the long hook, the implicit hook has some other advantages such as a more beautiful appearance, less stimulation to gum and buccal tissue, etc.

3. Supper low profile design: Protect III self-ligating bracket minimizes the thickness of the bracket without compromising the first order bending and strength requirements, thus, makes patient the most comfortable.

4. A more comfortable patient experience: All edges and tie wings are round and smooth. Together with implicit hook design and continuously soft and comfortable orthodontic force, patient pain and discomfort can be greatly reduced.

5. Shorter treatment duration: Teeth movement is accelerated due to low friction. Thus, the total orthodontic treatment duration can be shortened.

6. Easier unlocking and locking: Protect III self-ligating bracket uses the latest patented technology. Unlocking and locking are more smooth and easier. Insert the provided specialized tool or a probe and rotate to unlock (Figure 5, 6), place the archwire, use the other end of the specialized tool or finger to lock (Figure 7). Locking engagement is very reliable, which eliminates accidently unlocking during the interval of revisit.

7.Unique unlocking direction: The unlocking directions of Protect III self-ligating bracket are toward the gum uniformly. This special design makes the brackets lateral to the gum. Therefore, the height of bracket tie wing on the maxilla or mandible side is lower, which avoids collision between teeth and bracket, so as to improve patient comfortableness and avoid bracket from removing accidently.

8. A clearer sign of the tooth code: A quadrant color code is marked clearly on the distal tie wing of each bracket. An FDI tooth notation is engraved on each slide to facilitate bracket identification.

9. Using Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology: Higher accuracy.

10. Using the latest polishing technology: More beautiful and brighter appearance.

11. Shorter treatment process: Confining archwire with locking slide instead of ligature tie makes the treatment operation easier and timesaving. Moreover, the aging and weaken of ligature tie are eliminated.

Unlock and lock the slide tenderly: Rotate to unlock using the provided specialized tool or a probe, lock using the other end of the specialized tool or finger. Tender unlocking and locking operations guarantee normal working of locking slide.Prevent the end of the archwire from sliding out: Use the stopping forks of the provided specialized tool to prevent sliding out so as to avoid damage to patient’s oral mucosa.Early contact of brackets: After bracket bonding, check patient’s biting, avoid accidental removal of the bracket caused by tight biting or early contact between teeth and bracket.Further alignment of the anterior teeth: It could be difficult for small archwires to achieve three-dimensional control. Use larger high-elastic niti archwires or use auxiliary ligature tie instead to assist the rotation of the anterior teeth and complete the further alignment.
